While people continue to buy presents and open their traditional chocolate Advent calendars as

December 25 draws near, the Cathedral is inviting the public take part in its daily reflection throughout this month.

The Cathedral has created its very own online Advent calendar for reconciliation via its Facebook page.

“Each post is designed to only take two minutes a day to read and can be done on the train, waiting for a bus or while cleaning your teeth,” said the Reverend Canon Kathryn Fleming, Canon Pastor.

“Advent is one of the most overlooked seasons in the church calendar but it is as important as Lent and Pentecost.

The two-minute posts will published on the Cathedral’s Facebook page at 7am each day during Advent.

“With the recent attacks in Paris and Beirut and the awful conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan, many people are aware of their mortality and how fragile life can be,” added the Reverend Canon Sarah Hills, Canon for Reconciliation,

“Advent is about waiting, about moving from darkness to light and we hope that these two minute reflections on Facebook, will help people understand how peace can be built, sustained and that there can be a way forward following conflict.”
