COVENTRY University has made a leap in the league table of the world’s youngest universities.
The group moved from ranking in the 251-300 band to the joint 165th this year.
The Times higher education young university rankings lists the world’s best universities who are 50 years old or younger, based on 18 performance indicators grouped in teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry.
The group had an overall score of 44.3, with international outlook being the highest-performing category with a score of 95.6.
International outlook is described in the methodology as ‘the ability of a university to attract undergraduates, postgraduates and faculty from all over the planet’ which is key to its success on the world stage.
Professor John Latham CBE, vice-chancellor of Coventry University and chief executive of Coventry University Group, said: “We are delighted to be recognised for the significant improvements that have been made and for everything we have achieved in the last year.
“I am particularly delighted to see our work in the area of international outlook has been recognised. We deeply value both our wonderfully diverse student community, which across our group is made up of 162 nationalities, as well as our work across the globe.”
Last year Coventry University Group, which comprises of Coventry University, Coventry University London, CU Coventry, CU London, CU Scarborough and the National Institute of Teaching and Education, received an overall Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) in recognition of its “outstanding student experience and student outcomes”.
