TOM Ingram had his race two victory at Thruxton in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) taken away after receiving a two-place penalty following an incident with Dan Cammish.
After storming to victory in race two, Ingram received a post-race penalty after gaining an unfair advantage in an incident involving NAPA Racing’s Cammish.
Ingram and Cammish ran side-by-side towards the final chicane only for the Coventry racer to straightline the chicane, gaining an unfair advantage in the process.
And after defending champion Ash Sutton suffered damage to his splitter around mid-distance, Ingram eventaully blasted past title rival Jake Hill to take the lead.
However, the two-place penalty saw Ingram demoted to third and meant Hill claimed the race win with Cammish in second.
Ingram started race one from pole position, his second of the Championship, and sported the number 100 on his Hyundai i30N for the first time this season in celebration of Team Bristol Street Motors’ centenary year.
However, Ingram found himself swamped by a trio of NAPA Racing cars at the start as he became the first race one pole-sitter of the season not to convert that position into a victory.
Ingram recovered to finish fourth in race one and, after being denied victory in race two, crossed the line third in race three to secure his second podium finish of the weekend.
The Coventry driver sits third in the drivers’ standings on 155 points behind leader Sutton (169) and Hill (164).
The next round of the BTCC takes place at Oulton Park from June 22 to June 23.
