COVENTRY City ended pre-season with a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Bundesliga side Weder Bremen.
The Sky Blues equalised through Jack Rudoni in the first half either side of goals from Keke Topp and Jens Stage at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Werder opened the scoring in the opening five minutes when Topp headed home a corner at the near post.
The home side spurned a good chance to draw level six minutes later when a long ball put Ellis Simms in-behind the Werder defence only for the striker to scuff his shot wide.
City eventually equalised on 28 minutes as Rudoni exchanged passes with Kasey Palmer before carrying the ball into the box and coolly finding the bottom right corner.
The two teams traded chances after the break as Sky Blues goalkeeper Oliver Dovin made a smart save to keep out a header at the back post.
City handed a debut to new signing Brandon Thomas-Asante on the hour mark and went close with a header, forcing Bremen stopper Michael Zetterer into a save.
However, the German side won the game five minutes from time as Stage finished past Dovin at the back post.
Coventry begin the Championship season with a trip to Stoke City on Saturday, August 10 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the bet365 Stadium.
