Council starts work on Blue Ribbon roundabout

Holly Clement 6th Aug, 2024   0

COVENTRY City Council have started work on improving Blue Ribbon Island which is expected to be completed in Spring next year.

The improvement scheme is funded by the Government’s City Regional Sustainability Transport  Settlement.

It is in the first phase of plans to improve the connection between the city centre and Blue Ribbon island for pedestrians and cyclists.

Work on the roundabout will take place between 7.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday and there may be some occasional weekend and evening work.

There will need to be a range of traffic management during the work, this includes lane closures and temporary traffic lights.

The work, which started today (August, 6) includes:

  • A new segregated cycleway which will run on the outside of the roundabout
  • Improved crossings for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Relocation of the traffic lights so that they are nearer to the roundabout
  • Improved traffic lights on the roundabout to ensure a smoother flow of traffic and reduce queuing
