VICTOR Torp feels Coventry City can achieve ‘something great’ this season despite suffering an opening day defeat at Stoke City.
The Sky Blues slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the bet365 Stadium in their season opener in an even contest in Staffordshire.
However, Danish midfielder Torp remains confident City will enjoy a successful season.
Torp said: “I think we have a good confidence in the squad and among the players.
“We have a good squad and good depth and personally I don’t feel the pressure. I’m more excited because I think we can do something great this season and I feel we have a very good squad with some hungry players that want to achieve something.
“We’re disappointed now but excited about what’s coming. It’s disappointing not to get the win in the first game of the season. It was one of those games that if you can’t win, we have to take a point and a clean sheet.
“It’s not the start we hoped for, we came here for three points and a good performance, but the objectives are still the same. We want to win as many games as possible and go at teams and that’s still the main objectives.”
And Torp hopes to make his mark at Coventry this season after joining the club in January earlier this year.
He scored one goal in 20 appearances for the club in 2023/24 and is looking forward to his first full campaign as a Sky Blues player this term.
Torp added: “I came in January, and it was a bit of a hectic start, but I’m looking forward to a full season and a lot of games, because I want to play as many games as possible and I’m looking forward to a full season at Coventry.
“I feel when I came here, I started well, but I hadn’t trained for five weeks when I came, so towards the end it kind of felt like that.
“But now I have built that up in pre-season and hopefully I can stay good and play as many games as possible.”
