A COVENTRY resident has raised concerns about the state of Windmill Road Cemetery, a place of deep personal significance to her and many other Coventry families.
Sue Fisher was born and raised in Coventry and her family members are all laid to rest in the cemetery.
Sue said she frequently visits the cemetery to pay respects to her loved ones.
However, during a recent visit, she said was appalled by the state of the grounds.
“The cemetery looked unkempt, neglected, and forgotten.”
Following her visit on July 25, Sue contacted the Coventry City Council to voice her concerns.
When she returned to the grounds she added: “It does appear that some grounds maintenance has taken place with areas being mown, but there is still a significant mess around the graves where the grass cuttings have not been collected, along with an general air of neglect.”
Sue is urging more people to voice their concerns to the council, in hopes it will prompt a more immediate action.
A Coventry City Council Spokesperson said: “Our officers work very hard all year round to ensure that our six cemeteries are in a good condition.
“The grounds maintenance for Windmill Road Cemetery including mowing and strimming was completed on Friday 2 August.”
