AFC COVENTRY Rangers have folded after the club were informed their lease at their home ground would not be extended beyond the end of the season.

Rangers, who play in Midland Football League Division Two, said they would address rumours surrounding the club earlier this week.

The club has now confirmed its decision to fold due to leasing issues at their Coventry Tech Sporting Club home.

A club statement posted on X, said: “Unfortunately, we have made the decision to fold the team and will no longer be competing in the MFL.

“It is with great sadness that we have had to do this but when we were informed that our lease at The Tech would not be extended past this season we had to inform everyone involved with the team, which has lead to people looking elsewhere for their future in football.

“We would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the club and to all that have sponsored us throughout our team as a club so much.

“We wish everyone the very best in the future and hopefully one day we will see you again.”

Coventry played their last-ever game as a club on Tuesday night (August 13). They lost 3-0 against Central Ajax and have suffered defeat in all four of their matches this season.

The club missed out on the MFL Division Two title by a single point in 2022/23 after finishing second.

Coventry finished second again last season and played at Step Seven of non-league football.
