New songwriting course for Coventry adults available

A NEW SONGWRITING course for adults from Coventry and Warwickshire is starting as part of the Inside Stories programme.

For anyone looking to find a creative coping strategies for mental wellbeing can take part in ArtsUplift’s new course which started on August, 29.

There will be on-line and in-person sessions as well as a chance to take part in a sharing performance.

Martin Riley, a professional songwriter and musician will lead the course which will teach people how to use songwriting to improve wellbeing, how to construct a song using basic computer sequencing skills, and how to perform and shew songs.

The courses include a zoom meeting at 7pm to 8.30pm on August, 29, September 19, October 17 and November 21.

There will also be in-person course on December 5 and 6 at Benn Partnership in Rugby between 7pm and 9pm.




Sharing performance will take place at 7pm on December on 9.

This course is happening thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and Rugby Community Benevolent Fund.


Jenny Davis, executive director of Arts Uplift said: “I am thrilled that we can offer more song-writing sessions thanks to continued funding from the National Lottery fund and super excited to be working towards our first performances as part of this programme.

“It shows how people’s confidence has grown.”
