COVENTRY Sphinx staged a late comeback to draw 2-2 with Walsall Wood after conceding in the final few minutes.
Sphinx completed a late turnaround thanks to goals from Alex Lock and Shay Willock only for Walsall to equalise moments after Coventry took the lead at the John Sylvester Stadium.
The result means Coventry sit fifth in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.
Sphinx lost influential pair Stan Dube and Kyle Carey to injury in the first half as the teams went into the break goalless.
Walsall broke the deadlock five minutes after the interval when Ashley Carter’s free-kick deflected off the bottom of the wall and squirmed into the corner of the net.
However, the visitors drew level on 77 minutes as substitute Lock fired a shot into the bottom corner on the turn after excellent hold-up play from Willock.
And Sphinx turned the game on its head on 86 minutes when Willock blasted home via the aid of the post after good work from Andre Williams.
However, Walsall equalised less than a minute later as Kaiman Anderson headed past Keelan Fallows from virtually on the goalline.
Coventry are next in action against divisional rivals Sporting Khalsa in the FA Trophy on Saturday, September 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Sphinx Drive.
