SMALL COURSES with no tuition fees have been launched at Coventry University Group to help more people access higher education.
As part of the new Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP), the group will now offer people the chance to study modules from higher technical qualifications without committing to the full course.
These courses allow people flexibility to fit learning around work, childcare and other responsibilities.
Part of a government-led pilot scheme developed by the Department for Education (DfE) the modules are funded with eligible people not needing to pay back any fees.
Studying through MAP would be grant-funded with the grant leading to an associated reduction from the learner’s future Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) account from the DfE.
Coventry University is set to deliver the Building Information Modelling and its Digital Application module which is part of the Construction Management for England HTQ.
Professor John Dishman, pro-vice-chancellor for CU Group, said: “We’re really excited to be part of the pilot programme and to be able to widen the accessibility for people to be able to learn.
“Our offering has always been focused on more practical vocationally-based courses with flexible learning options so it is the perfect fit.
“This programme allows us to help more people to continue learning and, in some cases, learners can choose to study more modules and stack them building credits towards a full HTQ.”
