FOOTBALL - Coventry City to hold memorial matchday service before Swansea game later this month

COVENTRY City will be remembering supporters who have recently passed away when the Sky Blues take on Swansea City later this month.

Coventry have designated the home game against Swansea on Saturday, September 21 (kick-off, 3pm) at the Coventry Building Society Arena for tributes to be paid.

The game will mark the first tribute of the season, with the club’s next memorial fixture planned to take place in the New Year. City’s last memorial fixture took place in April when the Sky Blues hosted Leeds United.

Coventry fans who wish to remember a Sky Blues supporter who has passed away since the last tribute fixture need to email the name of their loved one, along with an image if they wish, to: [email protected]

Names and photos will appear on the scoreboard at half time, while names will also feature in the matchday programme.

A short service of remembrance will also take place in the Memorial Garden at the Arena at 1.30pm on the day of the game. The club will share more information regarding this service with fans closer to the date.

Supporters must send the required information to the club by midday on Wednesday, September 18. Any submissions after this time will not feature in the tributes.

While any tributes to former players and staff will continue to take place at games where necessary, tributes to fans who are sadly no longer with us will largely focus around these designated memorial fixtures rather than being match-by-match.
