FOOTBALL - Coventry City striker Simms looking forward to Tottenham test in Carabao Cup

ELLIS Simms insists ‘everyone has a part to play’ ahead of Coventry City’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Simms scored his first league goal of the season in Coventry’s 1-1 draw against Watford last weekend and also scored the winner as the Sky Blues beat Bristol City in the first round of the Carabao Cup last month.

City are playing in the third round of the competition for the first time in 12 years and face a stern test against Tottenham who finished fifth in the Premier League last season.

Simms said: “I’ve seen the draw, and I was excited. Whenever you play Premier League opposition it’s a good test to see where you’re at coming up against top quality players.

“I’m looking forward to it. We’ve got a big squad now, a lot of squad depth. I’m sure we all want to play, whether you’re starting or coming off the bench or just part of the squad in general, everyone has a part to play and we’re all looking forward to that game.

“We’ve won the first two rounds in the Carabao Cup, and we want to go as far as we can.

“We know it’s a tough game, Premier League opposition and a very good team, as you know, whether they play a strong team, or they rest a few

“It’s down to us really, we want to show what we were about and what we can do.”

Coventry host Spurs TONIGHT (Wednesday, September 18) with kick-off at 8pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
