OBI Nkwocha crossed twice while Liam Richman kicked 15 points on debut as Coventry Rugby eased to a bonus point 45-19 win at London Scottish on the opening weekend of the season.
Nkwocha dotted down twice in the second half while Tiki Nayalo, Suva Ma’asi, Jimmy Martin and Will Lane all crossed for tries at Richmond Athletic Ground.
The result means Coventry sit fourth in the Championship table on points difference.
Alex Rae’s men made the perfect start to the new season when Nayalo powered over after just eight minutes following an attacking lineout and Richman converted.
Another powerful lineout drive saw Cov score their second try as Ma’asi crossed just before the half-hour mark with Richman again adding the extras.
And the visitors stretched their lead four minutes before the break when Richman kicked a penalty.
Cov picked up where they left off after the interval as Nkwocha crossed for his first try close to the posts as Richman added the conversion.
However, a deliberate knock-on by Nkwocha just before the hour mark saw the powerful second row sent to the sin bin.
The Exiles quickly took advantage of the extra man as Ntinga Mpiko scored the home side’s first try which Harry Sheppard converted.
However, Cov crossed for their bonus point try on 65 minutes when Lane flung an excellent pass out wide to Martin who touched down in the left corner.
And Lane then ran in a superb individual try from 60-metres out three minutes later to all but end the game as a contest.
Nkwocha returned from the sin bin to score Cov’s sixth and final try of the night four minutes from time in support of another break from Lane.
Richman converted to maintain his perfect record from the kicking tee before Noah Ferdinand crossed for two late tries for the home side.
Coventry are next in action against Bedford Blues on Saturday, September 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Butts Park Arena.
