COVENTRY’S St Mary’s Guildhall is inviting visitors to a range of activities and events which to create a spooky parade through the city.

Late October will see a series of events, spanning centuries of ghostly traditions and superstitions with hands on experiences for all ages.

The Wild Hunt Lantern Parade, where families can gather to showcase their creepy creations in a procession through the city centre, will take place on Halloween night from 6pm.

The final session of lantern crafting will take place on Tuesday 29.

From October 26 to 31, visitors are invited to put their detective skills to the test to solve Penny’s Pumpkin Problem.

The Halloween mission allows guests to help Pumpkin Penny find out who has been feasting on her crop by solving clues scattered throughout the venue.

There will then be a chance to meet Penny in the Great Hall to create mini scarecrows.

Abi Moore, heritage and venue manager at No Ordinary Hospitality, said: “Halloween is the perfect time to embrace the haunted history of St Mary’s Guildhall and embark on a fun-filled adventure with the whole family.

“With our Wild Hunt Parade and hands-on craft sessions, there’s something for trick-or-treaters and history enthusiasts, with plenty to discover and a huge range of hands-on activities.

“This year, we’re showcasing a variety of Tudor traditions, folklore and spine-chilling tales for visitors to enjoy – culminating in the Wild Hunt, which is sure to bring a brilliant Halloween spectacle to the city centre.

“And for thrill-seeking visitors, there’s even the chance to explore the ‘Necromancer’s Lair’ to uncover gruesome relics and demonic rituals for the full Halloween experience.”

The Halloween events are funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players to help reduce barriers to accessing the heritage attraction.
