FORMER Nuneaton and Bedworth Mayor raised over £33,000 for Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice.
Coun Martin Walsh’s Civic Appeal was launched in May 2023 and ran for 12 months during his term of office.
The appeal raised a total of £33,312 for the charity.
Coun Walsh said: “I would like to thank all those residents of the borough who kindly donated or supported my appeal for Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice, helping to raise much needed funds for this deserving local charity.
“I would also like to thank my fellow councillors for all their support and extend my gratitude to those local companies who supported my appeal in anyway, particularly Spartan Motor Factors.”
Fundraising events including a 5K inflatable challenge, a sponsored cycle ride, two tombolas were held in Nuneaton Market and an Abba tribute night.
Coun Walsh added: “Once again, a massive thanks to everyone who in anyway supported my appeal, including Harman Kaur at Zoë’s Place and all the volunteers who helped out at the fundraising events.
“Every penny of the money raised will be used to help those babies and their families who use the hospice. Thank you all.
“I would also like to thank my wife, Sandra, the Mayoress, for without her support, I could not have hoped to have raised such a significant amount.”
Lisa Harrison-Byrne, Head of Fundraising at Zoë’s Place, Coventry, said: “We were thrilled to hear that the Mayor and Mayoress of Nuneaton and Bedworth were supporting Zoë’s Place – thank you.
“Without the help of fundraising efforts such as these, we would not be able to offer our invaluable services.
“The huge amount of funds raised will make a difference to the lives of the families we support, please accept another heartfelt thank you.”
