THERE has been plenty of speculation about the next manager of Coventry City after Mark Robins was sacked yesterday.
A number of names have entered the frame with Lee Carsley (around 6/1 to 8/1) and Frank Lampard (4/1 to 5/1 depending on the bookmaker) among the favourites.
Others mentioned include Liam Rosenoir (around the 22/1 mark), Gary Rowett, Alex Neil and Ashley Cole (all around 25/1).
And former England boss Gareth Southgate is also on the list. As an outside bet of 33/1 although one bookmaker has him as low as 14/1.
Many Sky Blues fans were shocked by the decision to part company with Robins. Until yesterday he was the English Football League’s longest-serving manager with seven years at the CBS Arena.
Coventry, despite being within touching distance of the Premier League, before losing in the play-off final against Luton Town, have not had the best start to the season and are currently in 17th.
Robins had taken Coventry to their second FA Cup Final as well and had turned the Sky Blues fortunes around.
In its statement, the club said it was a very difficult decision to take. Many fans expressed frustration following Robins’ sacking.
