COVENTRY Sphinx let a two-goal lead slip after conceding in injury time to draw 2-2 with Coleshill Town as the visitors finished the game with 10-men.
Sphinx took a two-goal into the break courtesy of a quickfire strikes from Shay Willock and Kyle Carey only for Ryan Nesbitt’s penalty to reduce the deficit early in the second half at Pack Meadow.
Goalscorer Willock saw red in injury time before Jack Hallahan’s effort from distance found the net in the second minute of added time to deny Sphinx the points.
The result means Coventry sit 15th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, four points above the relegation zone.
Sphinx broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when Willock’s free-kick deflected into the bottom left corner from 25-yards out.
And Coventry struck again inside 60 seconds as Carey lobbed the ball over Coleshill goalkeeper Tyrese Warmington from just inside the penalty area.
However, Coleshill halved the deficit four minutes after the break when Nesbitt fired a penalty into the bottom left corner.
Sphinx looked to hold onto their slender lead only for Willock to receive a second yellow card in the first minute of injury time after he pulled back a Coleshill player deep in the opposition’s half.
And Coleshill made the most of the extra man moments later as substitute Hallahan fired a shot into the bottom right corner from 25-yards out to leave Sphinx stunned.
Coventry are next in action against Loughborough Students on Saturday, November 16 with kick-off at 3pm at Loughborough University Stadium.
