COVENTRY students have helped raise over £85,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), writes Sage Whitfield.
Residents at Collegiate UK’s Coventry student accommodations this year donated over 4,000 bags of items to The British Heart Foundation (BHF), raising an impressive £85,239 for the charity this year alone.
The campaign ‘Pack for Good’ helps fund research for the BHF by encouraging students to donate good quality, unwanted items such as second-hand clothes, utensils, electronics equipment, and books which can be restored and reused.
The resident donations made throughout October 2023 to September 2024, totalled over 32,000kg.
To date, collegiate UK has contributed over 57tones of donated items, raising more than £142,534 for the charity.
The BHF’s mission is to combat heart disease and promote heart health education. All the donations to BHF shops, proceeds directly towards life-saving heart disease research.
BHF partnership manager, Amanda Purkiss said: “Our shops rely on donations to continue raising money.”
The generous donations from the students and staff of Colligate UK have helped make it possible to support BHF shops in local communities nationwide.
Managing director or Colligate UK, Neil Burton, said: ” Partnering with the British Heart Foundation is a fantastic way for us to give back to the community and for students to contribute their unwanted items to a truly meaningful cause.”
Every donation makes a difference, members of the public can also get involved by donating unwanted items to their local British Heart Foundation shops or drop-off points.
Collegiate UK is committed to supporting the British Heart Foundation and will continue to provide donation bins at all its 21 PBSA (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation) locations in a bid to raise even more funds.
