A LASTING difference to people’s lives’ – that is what Coventry Building Society hopes to achieve with a £1.6million donation in 2025 to support the city’s communities and help improve the futures of the most disadvantaged.
The money is being allocated to 126 organisations including schools, youth groups, foodbanks, social supermarkets, help for the elderly, Citizens Advice, Central England Law Centre, Age UK and support for the city’s homeless.
The £1.6million invested in Coventry includes over £750,000 going to schools and youth charities to support literacy and numeracy and help raise aspirations of young people in the city, £225,000 going to Coventry Citizens Advice to support those in debt, and £250,000 to Coventry Youth Hub – a one-stop hub for young people facing homelessness.
Alongside the donations to Coventry-based causes, each of the Society’s 64 branches from Sheffield to Somerset will give £1,000 to their local foodbank, so communities across the country can benefit.
Anna Cuskin, corporate responsibility manager at Coventry Building Society, said: “Our £1.6 million support across Coventry is specifically targeted at making a lasting difference to people’s lives next year.
“We know, from the work we do with our charity partners and through our branch network how we can make the biggest positive impact to the parts of our communities that need it most. There are so many charities and organisations across our city which are making a tremendous difference to people’s lives, and we hope our donation will help them continue in their work.
“We give year-round support in the form of funding, resources, and volunteers, but as we come into the winter months, we know it can be a time where people increasingly turn to their communities for help.
“We hope our donation not only enables more people to get the support they need, but also that more people hear about the places they can go to if they’re struggling.”
