EPHRON Mason-Clark insists ‘it is just the start’ after the forward scored his first Coventry City goal against Cardiff City.
Mason-Clark netted his first Sky Blues goal against the Bluebirds as Coventry twice came from behind to earn a point in Frank Lampard’s first game in charge of the club.
And the 25-year-old believes the arrival of new head coach Lampard will only increase the competitiveness in the Sky Blues squad.
Mason-Clark said: “It is really special for me, but this is just a start. For the group it is a new start for everybody really.
“It has been really quick but in that short space of time, I think we have taken on a lot of tactics and ways of playing.
“It has been clear and quite simple really, and I think we shown that in parts.
“With how competitive our team is, having a person like him in the building is only going to amplify that and make every single training session and matchday competitive.”
The forward reached double figures for goals in all competitions for former club Peteborough United in each of the last two seasons.
However, after notching his first goal for the club, Mason-Clark admits City must sure up at the other end of the pitch.
Mason-Clark added: “I do prefer that position but at the end of the day, no matter where I play I am trying to give 100 per cent.
“Not just for the team, but for the fans as well.
“It [conceding goals] is something we need to change. We will review it, knit pick at the small stuff.
“Once we fix, I feel we will be able to take that further through the season.
“It is a building block. We are going to have to build on it and have a good week of training before the next one.”
Coventry are next in action against Millwall on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 3pm at The Den.
