Christmas is a time for joy and celebration, but I know it can be tough for many, with loneliness, rising bills and stretched budgets putting pressure on families during the cost-of-living crisis.
This year, we’ve turned a corner. After 14 years of Conservative austerity that deepened inequality and weakened our public services, a Labour government is now in power. There’s a clear mandate to rebuild our country and make a material difference in people’s lives, but the fight for justice and equality is far from over.
In Westminster, I was proud to vote to scrap the cruel two-child benefit cap and to oppose the means-testing of Winter Fuel Payments – policies that have hit families and pensioners hardest in Coventry.
I will keep pushing for universal free school meals, tackling poverty, and delivering affordable, green transport and well-paid, high-quality, unionised jobs across the West Midlands.
It is an immense honour to have been re-elected as your MP for Coventry South. Thank you for placing your trust in me once again. I will continue to stand up for you and our community – both here in Coventry and in Westminster.
Together, we will build a fairer and brighter future for all.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a hopeful New Year.
