COVENTRY City lost 5-0 against Manchester United to exit the FA Youth Cup at the third round stage.
The Sky Blues conceded three goals inside the first 13 minutes before United struck twice more after the break at Leigh Sports Village.
Despite the final scoreline, City made a positive start as Alfie Wright saw his effort saved by Red Devils goalkeeper Will Murdock.
At the other end, Sky Blues stopper Luis Lines produced a smart save to deny a United forward from close range.
However, United broke the deadlock after just three minutes when Gabriele Biancheri found the net at the back post from six-yards out.
And the Red Devils doubled their lead on 10 minutes as Biancheri took the ball past Lines and fired home into an empty net from the edge of the penalty area.
The home side extended their lead three minutes later when Chido Obi-Martin calmly beat Lines from inside the area.
Coventry looked to respond as Conrad Ambursley saw his effort from a tight angle saved by Murdock.
Lines made a fine save at the other end to keep the Sky Blues in the contest before the break.
City’s first-half substitute Tionne Critchlow-Woyo then weaved his way through United’s midfield but was unable to hit the target.
United took the game out of Coventry’s reach on 53 minutes when Obi-Martin rifled a free-kick into the bottom corner.
And the Red Devils won a penalty minutes later only for Lines to deny Biancheri from the spot and prevent the latter from completing his hat-trick.
Lines made another excellent save to tip Zach Baumann’s shot to safety before Biancheri completed his treble with 12 minutes left to play.
Biancheri almost grabbed his fourth of the night late on as Critchlow-Woyo cleared his header off the line.
