COVENTRY Sphinx made the perfect start to the New Year with a 2-0 derby win against local rivals Bedworth United.
Second-half goals from Kyle Carey and Harry Wakefield settled the game at The Oval as Sphinx claimed back-to-back league victories.
The result means Coventry sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Bedworth sit one place and seven points above the drop zone.
Sphinx broke the deadlock on 64 minutes when Carey lifted the ball over Bedworth goalkeeper Dom Rogerro from Alex Lock’s through ball.
And the visitors sealed the points three minutes from time as Wakefield volleyed home Finlay Shorrock’s free-kick.
Coventry are next in action against Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, January 4 with kick-off at 3pm at Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
Bedworth travel to AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Saturday, January 4 with kick-off at 3pm at Hayden Road.
