SKY Blues fans have helped to raise a huge sum for a Coventry baby hospice.
Coventry City hosted a collection for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice at the match against Millwall at the Coventry Building Society Arena on December 29.
Thanks to their generous donations, supporters raised £1,450 for the hospice.
Coventry City and Sky Blues in the Community work regularly with Zoe’s Place, and members of the Sky Blues squad visited the Hospice – which is based near the Coventry Building Society Arena – in December.
Zoe’s Place Trust is the only baby hospice in the UK, and provides palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The staff at Zoe’s Place aim to provide care and support 24 hours a day for both the child and family.
Currently, Zoe’s Place Coventry is only able to open for four or five days a week due to funding, with the Liverpool branch due to close down soon.
A Coventry City spokesperson said: “Zoe’s Place offers parents and carers a chance to recharge their batteries or to spend time with their other children. The value of this respite care cannot be underestimated, and many families say that they simply would not be able to cope without the help and support of the Zoe’s Place team.
“The Hospice is designed to be a ‘home away from home’ in which the children feel comfortable and are able to get the most out of the very special facilities. Alongside the care that is offered to the children they also support the whole family through their parent support network and the sibling groups.
“Fundraising is vital for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice to remain open and continue to support families, so we would like to thank supporters for their generous donations.”
