COVENTRY City under-21s produced a scintillating performance to thrash Colchester United 14-0 in the Professional Development League.
The young Sky Blues made the perfect start when midfielder Charlie Finney opened the scoring after just five minutes at the Alan Higgs Centre.
And Finney grabbed his second of the game on 14 minutes before completing his hat-trick on 28 minutes.
City were rampant as Kai Yearn made it four just past the half-hour mark.
And Aidan Dausch netted twice in the space of three minutes before half time to send City into the break with a remarkable six-goal lead.
The returning Ryan Howley made it seven just six minutes after the interval before Elliot Betjemann struck just past the mark.
And further goals from Yearn and Howley put City 10 goals to the good after 73 minutes.
The scoring continued as Dausch netted three times in the space of four minutes to finish the game with an astonishing five-goal haul.
And Aston Ellard completed the scoring for City four minutes from time in a simply stunning performance from the young Sky Blues.
Coventry’s under-21s are next in action against Birmingham City on Friday, January 24 with kick-off at 1pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
