VICTOR Torp scored a brace as Coventry City secured a third successive league win with a 2-1 victory against Watford.
Torp struck either side of half time to put the Sky Blues in command before Liam Kitching’s late own goal set up a nervy finish at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The result means Coventry sit 12th in the Championship table, six points outside of the play-off places.
Frank Lampard’s side broke the deadlock on 32 minutes when Torp stole in to volley Jack Rudoni’s cross from the right into the bottom left corner from six-yards out.
At the other end, Sky Blues stopper Oliver Dovin made a fine double save as he first denied Tom Dele-Bashiru before then holding Vakoun Bayo’s tame header.
City doubled their lead in style on 75 minutes as Torp lashed an unstoppable free-kick past Jonathan Bond goal from a central position 25-yards from goal.
However, Watford halved the deficit eight minutes from time when Moussa Sissoko’s low shot deflected off Kitching and crept into the bottom left corner.
And the Hornets almost drew level only for Dovin to superbly readjust his position to tip Giorgi Chakvetadze’s deflected shot behind, diving low to his right.
Coventry are next in action against Swansea City on Saturday, February 1 with kick-off at 3pm at the Swansea.com Stadium.
