COVENTRY Godiva Harriers’ women’s A team secured promotion to Division One of the Midland Women’s Cross Country League.
The women’s team clinched promotion at Coombe Abbey in the final fixture of the season.
And Godiva’s A team won promotion in style as Alison Kennedy took the race win ensuring a Harriers athlete won every single league fixture this season.
Impressive finishes from Amelia Starling 13th, Alicia Roberts 17th and Shona Murrary 67th (fifth junior) helped Godiva achieve promotion.
The women’s team scored 98 points from the fixture to finish fifth on the day and third overall to win team bronze and promotion to Division One.
Roberts was the only Godiva athlete to score in all four league fixtures.
Further back, Dewi Dankmeyer 97th and Jayne Mumford 106th (65th master) also completed the race.
Elsewhere, Godiva’s men’s team headed to Leamington where they successfully avoided relegation.
Fine runs from Joe McLeod 33rd, Scott Hudspith 40th, Dan Clarke 45th (sixth master), Nick Wolley 58th, Teklay Alemu 82nd and Andy Boon 97th (22nd master) ensured the men retained their top-flight status for another year.
The A team scored 355 points to finish 11th on the day and 13th overall, clinching the final place above the relegation zone.
Godiva’s B team comprised of James Wright 97th, Sam Marshall in 111th (27th master), David Cooper 112th, Clarke Roberts 114th (29th master), Harvey Speed 121st (32nd master) and Adam Jackson 124th (18th junior)
And the B team finished fourth on the day and fifth overall while the masters A team finished third on the day and sixth in the league standings.
The masters B team comprised Pete Eccleston 126th (34th master), Thomas Beesley 127th, Matt Hadlum 133rd, Richard Todd 153rd (49th master) and Sam Katanda 162nd (55th master).
This left the B team second on the day and fifth overall.
And Godiva runners Jason Brotherhood 164th (57th master), Anthony Mitrofaniuk 166th (59th master), Waising Yip 169th (62nd master), Dale Ball 184th (71st master), Lee Connelly 190th, John Treadwell 194th (78th master), Nathan Jones 195th, Eidris Kabango 197th (25th junior) and Gary Flude 217th (98th master) all completed the race.
