FOOTBALL - Frank Lampard provides injury update on Ephron Mason-Clark and Haji Wright

Aaron Sutcliffe 14th Feb, 2025   0

FRANK Lampard admits Ephron Mason-Clark is close to making a full return to fitness ahead of Coventry City’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

Mason-Clark marked his return from injury as a substitute in Coventry’s late win against Queens Park Rangers in midweek.

The forward returned to action for the first time since Boxing Day and Lampard admits he has a choice to make regarding Mason-Clark’s fitness this weekend.

Lampard said: “He’s close. It was really good for him to play those minutes. It was exactly what he needed that 20 minutes of the game to feel his way in.

“He looked sharp in moments, but we have to understand he has been out for some weeks so it’s a choice for me now for where exactly he is at and how the team fits around him.”

Lampard also provided an update on the fitness of Haji Wright who last took to the field against Sunderland in November.

Wright suffered an ankle ligament injury at the Stadium of Light and is yet to feature under Lampard since his appointment as Sky Blues head coach.

However, Lampard believes the USA international is still a couple of weeks away from returning to the side.

Lampard added: “He’s back on the grass but it’s early days, he’s taken part in training and has come out of parts of training to get fitness.

“He’s been out for a relatively long time so it’s important that we get him right and ready and firing to come back.

“It’s great to have him back in the mix and even taking part in the warm-up, boxes and little possessions, then going out to work is a great feeling to have him back in the next couple of the weeks.”
