FOOTBALL - Jack Rudoni not looking at the Championship table after Coventry City's win against Preston

JACK Rudoni is not looking at the Championship table after scoring the opener in Coventry City’s weekend win against Preston North End.

The midfielder headed in Ephron Mason Clark’s cross to score his fourth goal of the season against the Lilywhites.

And despite City sitting just one place and one point outside of the play-off places, Rudoni insists he is taking things one game at a time and does not look at the league table.

Rudoni said: “I do not really look at the table, I just take it game by game.

“I know everyone really says that, but I genuinely do not really look at it.

“If you win all your games, you will end up high, so if we keep winning every game we will end up where we want to be.

“We will keep going, game by game.”

Rudoni broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark at the Coventry Building Society Arena before Bobby Thomas doubled the home side’s lead.

Preston reduced the deficit late on courtesy of Will Keane’s strike as City held on to secure a seventh win from their last eight league matches.

Rudoni netted for the first time since mid-December and admits there is a good feeling around the club at the moment.

Rudoni added: “I have not had one for a while so I am glad to be back on the scoresheet.

“I seem to like a header. When the ball goes out wide, I know quality is going to be put into the box, so that is why I get myself into those areas.

“The gaffer literally said to me before I went out ‘get in the box’ and that is what I did.

“It is a really good feeling, I think we are feeling very good as a group right now.

“We are making most of it and we are playing well, and we are getting those wins, so we are happy.”

Coventry travel to Oxford United on Saturday, March 1 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the Kassam Stadium.
