EPHRON Mason-Clark praised Coventry City’s ‘hunger and desire’ to come away with the points against Oxford United.
The U’s twice pegged City back at the Kassam Stadium before Tatsuhiro Sakamoto struck to send the Sky Blues into the Championship play-off places.
Mason-Clark found the net for the first time since Boxing Day against Oxford and hopes Coventry can keep their momentum going after securing an eighth win from their last nine games.
Mason-Clark said: “I just put that down to the hunger of the team [scoring the winner], from Oli [Dovin], the defenders, everybody just wanted to push forward and kind of get third goal that we ended up getting.
“I think just the desire from everybody, everybody wants to score, and we see that not just in games as well, so we just got to keep that momentum going and prepare for every game individually.
“I think some top players at the highest level live off scraps, so I don’t know it was just at that moment a little bit of instinct and you know I’m happy enough with that and lucky enough that I scored the goal.”
The winger also praised the togetherness of Frank Lampard’s squad after City twice responded quickly to reclaim the lead.
Mason-Clark added: “We won’t look too far ahead in the future. We’re just staying as focused as we can.
“I just think it’s the competitive nature of our group as you can see the squad is getting stronger and its really competitive.
“It was good with the end result that came out of it, but I think that stint there it just showed how together we was as a team and the support from the fans helped was that extra push that kind of got us across the line.
“It’s part of football and the fact that none of us dropped our heads, we all looked after each other out there and just kept going, it just shows the character of everybody from the boys that started and the boys on the bench.”
Coventry are next in action against Stoke City on Saturday, March 8 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
