MUSICIANS are tuning up for a charity concert to raise cash for The Myton Hospices.
‘Orchestra for an Occasion’ will feature a professional orchestra of 50 players led by conductor Brian Chappell on Saturday May 17 at Warwick School.
The concert begins at 2.30pm and will be introduced by BBC TV Midlands Today presenter Mary Rhodes.
The orchestra will play music from stage, screen and popular classics, including Gladiator, Downton Abbey, Minuet by Haydn, Wicked, 76 Trombones, The Greatest Showman, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, The Great Escape, Oliver, Palladio by Karl Jenkins and many more.
‘Orchestra for an Occasion’ is sponsored by Roger Medwell.
Roger’s wife Patricia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and was later cared for by the Myton at Home team.
Roger said: “Pat started to deteriorate rapidly. We desperately wanted Pat to spend her final days with us at home. Myton at Home nurses descended like angels from the sky to guide us, to reassure Pat and to offer their expert, palliative care, while consoling and advising us every step of the way.
“I will be forever grateful to the nurses. Even though they were only with us for a short amount of time it would have been impossible for us to do what the nurses did. They gave us so much freedom within our family so we could try to enjoy the time we had left with her. The support they gave was incredible and we’ll never forget their selflessness in our time of need. They really were angels. And four years later I am still forever thankful.”
Roger added: “Orchestra for an Occasion is in memory of my dearest wife, Patricia, and the many other people The Myton Hospices support and care for.”
