‘HEARTBREAKING’ – two severely neglected dogs have been put down after they were found abandoned in Coventry.
The RSPCA is appealing for information after the pair, who were left in Coventry War Memorial Park last month, were rescued by a kind-hearted member of the public who contacted the dog warden at Coventry City Council.
The dogs, who were named Mimi and Murphy by rescuers, were in very poor physical condition and health, with a skin condition which meant they were covered in scabs and missing most of their fur.
RSPCA Inspector Laura Brewerton, who is investigating for the animal welfare charity, said: “It’s heartbreaking to see how both these dogs had been left.
“I’m really keen to find out what happened to them and who allowed these dogs to get into such an awful state. They were taken to the dog warden by the person who found them but did not have microchips for us to find out any more about them.
“While being cared for by the dog warden, they received treatment for a number of days because they were really struggling in very poor health. Unfortunately they didn’t respond to treatment and sadly had to be euthanised because of the severity of their condition.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the RSPCA’s appeals line on 0300 123 8018 quoting incident 01446701.
