A COMMUNITY bench made entirely from recycled materials has been donated to the streets of Coventry.
Recycling company TerraCycle donated the bench to Coventry Urban Eden after the organisation was nominated by customers of TerraCycle’s Zero Waste Bags initiative.
The new bench, which has been installed in the gardens beside The Methodist Central Hall in Warwick Lane, doubles as a planter.
It comprises waste collected by the company, including through their own Zero Waste Bags, which allow customers to recycle materials not typically available such as crisp packets or medicine blister packs.
The donation aims to sustainably enhance public spaces, providing a comfortable place for community members to sit and enjoy the space.
Secretary of Coventry Urban Eden, Angela Schuster, said: “We are so pleased to have received a bench planter made from recycled materials from TerraCycle.
“We are thankful they organised this donation campaign.
“It has been wonderful to learn that members of our community appreciate our work enough to nominate us to the donation.
“The bench planter has been a superb addition to our community, and we aim to use it as inspiration for community-based environmental efforts”
TerraCycle hopes the bench will highlight the hard work Coventry Urban Eden does for the area, as well as the importance of caring for the environment.
Julien Tremblin, general manager of TerraCycle Europe, said the firm was delighted to provide the bench planter, adding: “We are excited to give back to our customers, who are the heart and soul of TerraCycle, and demonstrate how we give new life to the waste they collect by transforming it into practical items.
“Additionally, we hope that this donation will help raise awareness about the potential of recycled materials, showcasing how they can be used to enhance local communities.”
