MATT Grimes believes there is ‘massive pressure’ on all of Coventry City’s remaining fixtures as the Sky Blues chase a play-off spot.
Coventry dropped out of the top-six following a 2-1 home defeat against Burnley while results elsewhere also went against the Sky Blues.
The Sky Blues have the chance to respond to the Burnley loss against Portsmouth at the Coventry Building Society Arena in midweek.
And Grimes insists Coventry remain determined to bounce back from their recent defeats to improve their chances of securing a play-off place.
Grimes said: “I think there is massive pressure on every game, not just from the two defeats we have had.
“I think we have lost four of the last 14 games, three of those have been against the top three, so I do not think there is any disgrace in that.
“We have given everyone a good game and like every game we lose, we now want to bounce back.
“I think if we play the way we have been playing in the last 15 games, we will be more than fine. It is just a case of ticking them off as they come.”
A brace from Jaidon Anthony condemned City to defeat after Haji Wright’s early goal put the Sky Blues ahead at the CBS Arena.
City sit just one point outside of the play-off places with six games left to play.
And Grimes admits Coventry paid the price for making two costly mistakes against the Clarets.
Grimes added: “It has been a couple of tough fixtures back-to-back.
“We’re disappointed with the result, I did not think there was much in the game to be honest, obviously just a couple of mistakes from ourselves and we got punished.
“That is what good teams do to you. It was my mistake that led to it [the first goal] but that is part and parcel of the game.
“We will most likely concede another freak goal like that [the second goal], and you get on with it, you put your head up and keep your chest out.”
Coventry are next in action against Portsmouth on Wednesday, April 9 with kick-off at 8pm at the CBS Arena.
