THE people of Coventry will have the opportunity to be screened for cancer this month, thanks to the NHS Cancer Bus Tour.
The NHS Cancer Bus, organised by NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), is staffed by a team of healthcare experts including GPs, consultants and trusted representatives from the Targeted Lung Health Check and Screening teams.
The tour will start at Primark in Coventry city centre today before visiting Edgwick Park (Foleshill Road tomorrow (Wednesday) and Cannon Park Shopping Centre (Lynchgate Road) on Thursday, finishing at City of Coventry Health Centre (Stanton Road) on Saturday, May 10. The bus will be there from 10am to 4pm each day.
The aim of the tour is to raise awareness of the symptoms of cancer and promote early diagnosis.
Dr Hazel Blanchard, Primary Care Clinical Cancer Lead at the NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, said: “The subject of cancer can feel scary and overwhelming, so we wanted to create a safe space in local communities for people to connect with healthcare professionals without having to travel very far.
“Experts will be on-hand to talk residents through the different cancer screening programmes available and share information about how regular screening empowers you to be proactive rather than reactive.”
