ATHLETICS - Coventry Godiva Harriers athletes win glut of medals at Warwickshire County Championships

COVENTRY Godiva Harriers won six gold medals at the Warwickshire County Track and Field Championships.

Harriers won 21 medals in total – six gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals – at Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton.

The club’s senior women’s athletes Niamh Moohan and Francesca Gibbs won gold in the 100m hurdles and 3,000m respectively.

And senior men’s athlete Jo McLeod claimed gold in the 1,500m and also took silver in the 800m.

And Godiva’s Jack King won senior men’s gold in the triple jump.

Under-17 women’s athlete Shaiya Kenion won gold in the 100m and bronze in the 200m.




And under-20 athlete Imogen Lane took shot put gold to become county champion.

Coventry’s senior men also medalled in a number of other events.


Waising Yip won silver in the 400m hurdles, while Clark Roberts claimed silver in the 400m and Harvey Speed took bronze in the 3,000m.

And senior women athletes Dewi Dankmeyer and Paige Zhang-Green won silver and bronze respectively in the 800m while Rowena Ockenden claimed bronze in the 1,500m.

Several of Coventry’s young athletes came home with medals as Shona Murray won 3,000m silver and 800m bronze in the under-20 women’s category

And in the under-17 women’s category, Isla Beasley claimed high jump silver while under-15 girls’ athlete Niyah Bennett won silver in the 300m.

Godiva also medalled in the under-20 men’s 3,000m as William Chalmers won silver.

And under-17 athlete Harrison Cartwright won silver in the 800m while Iyinoluwa Lawa won bronze in the 100m.
