TWO men who sexually abused two teenage girls in Coventry after plying them with drink and drugs have been jailed.

Farhang Taha, 26, of Vincent Street, and Attullah Areen, 31, of Scarborough Way, were found guilty at Warwick Crown Court of trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation, and will be sentenced at a later date.

The court heard that, from 2016 to 2018, Taha and Areen would pick the girls up in their cars and drive to addresses in Coventry, where they would supply them with cocaine and alcohol before sexually abusing them.

The girls, who were teenagers at the time, came forward to report the abuse to officers in 2021.

An investigation, titled Operation Bookbinder, was launched shortly after.

Officers investigating found video clips of the abuse on one of the men’s phones.

Despite this, both men denied being responsible and tried to claim the girls were lying about the abuse.

The victims, both now adults, bravely gave statements which led to the two men being found guilty at trial.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “As a force we work hard to ensure that all victims and survivors of sexual abuse, whatever their age, feel able to come forward to tell us about their experiences.

“You will be treated with respect, listened to and taken seriously whilst we carry out a robust investigation to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.

“We are committed to an approach where children are seen as children and safeguarding is always prioritised.

“No matter how long ago the offences took place, our officers will always investigate any reports they receive.”
