A RAPIST from Coventry has been jailed for more than a decade for sexually assaulting a woman in the city.
Edward Kallon, 44, of Shakleton Road in Spon End, was jailed for 11 years following a trial at Warwick Crown Court.
He attacked the woman at his home in September 2024.
Kallon invited the woman into his home and told her he wanted to have sex with her.
She said no, and Kallon then raped her.
A neighbour heard what was going on and intervened, allowing the woman into their flat for safety and so she could get away from Kallon.
Kallon was arrested and, when interviewed, denied all offences.
However, West Midlands Police’s rape and serious sexual assault (RASSO) officers were able to build a case against him after the woman bravely came forward to tell her story.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Our detectives investigate all reports of rape and sexual assault, no matter how long ago they happened.
“We work hard to ensure that all victims and survivors of sexual abuse, whatever their age, feel able to come forward to tell us about their experiences. You will be treated with respect, listened to and taken seriously whilst we carry out a robust investigation to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
“We are committed to an approach where safeguarding is always prioritised.
“No matter how long ago the offences took place, our officers will always investigate any reports they receive.”
