COVENTRY Blaze have completed the signing of American defenceman Colton Saucerman for the 2025/26 Elite League season.
The 33-year-old blue-liner arrives at the Skydome Arena following two seasons with Elite League rivals Sheffield Steelers.
Saucerman made 128 appearances for the Steelers and tallied 75 points (11 goals, 64 assists) as Sheffield completed a Grand Slam in the 2023/24 season.
Blaze head coach, Kevin Moore said: “Colton is one of the top powerplay defencemen in the league, and his ability to create offence from the blue line is going to be a huge asset for us.
“He brings a gritty, hard-nosed style of defending that we know our fans will appreciate.
“Colton’s leadership and character will also be invaluable in our locker room.
“We’re excited to welcome him to Coventry.”
He featured in six Champions Hockey League games for Sheffield.
Saucerman has also played for HC Kosice in Slovakia and HC Innsbruck in Austria.
He recorded 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 63 games for Kosice and 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) in 41 appearances for Innsbruck.
Prior to his spell in Europe, Saucerman made 317 appearances in the ECHL with the Allen Americans, Idaho Steelheads, Manchester Monarchs and South Carolina Stingrays.
He amassed 172 points (32 goals, 140 assists) in the ECHL.
Saucerman also received 41 call-ups to the AHL where he added nine points (one goal, eight assists).
He developed through the NCAA ranks with Northeastern University where he registered 64 points (20 goals, 44 assists) across 140 games.
