A VIOLENT Coventry man who viciously attacked another man with a machete has been jailed.

Ryan Hancock, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court to 10 years’ imprisonment for wounding his victim – plus a further 12-month sentence connected to a violent disorder at a pub in Quorn Way in June 2024.

Hancock attacked a man with a machete in William McKee Close in September 2024, causing such severe injuries the man lost one of his hands and nearly lost the other.

Hancock, who injured himself in the attack, chased his victim on an e-bike before waving the machete at him.

The attack was so severe that the man needed urgent surgery to try and save both of his hands, which had been hit with the machete when he raised his arms to try and defend himself.

Hancock was identified as responsible and was arrested shortly after the offence.

When interviewed by police, Hancock said he hadn’t meant to seriously injure the man and that he had swung the machete to try and drive him away.

However, CCTV footage showed Hancock chasing his victim and slashing at him several times.

The offence was believed to be a reprisal for a previous robbery in the city committed against Hancock.
