Inquisitive kids at Coventry primary school become 'Eco Buddies'

INQUISITIVE kids at a Coventry primary school are the latest group of students to become ‘Eco Buddies’ after participating in an environmental education programme.

Pupils from St Christopher Primary School were visited by staff from housebuilder Orbit Homes, who taught them about biodiversity, why it’s important, and what they can do to promote it.

They also helped the pupils build and decorate their own bird boxes.

Year 5 Teacher Kevin Tarn said: “Our pupils are very curious about the environment and love to explore outdoors so this was a very engaging experience for them.

“The bird box activity was a fun and creative way to get the pupils really involved with the idea of protecting the wildlife around us and we’d like to say thank you to Orbit Homes for inspiring our very own ‘Eco Buddies’.”

Brian Nearney, Regional Managing Director at Orbit Homes, added: “It was a great opportunity to help the children learn more about biodiversity and share what they can do to make their own positive difference on the environment, both at home and at school.

“Our team really enjoyed building the bird boxes with the pupils and we loved seeing the students add their own personal touch to the bird boxes with their colourful designs. We’re very grateful to St Christopher Primary School for having us.”
