COVENTRY City scored three goals in the space of seven minutes to claim a thrilling 5-3 win away at Derby County.

The Sky Blues led twice in the first half courtesy of goals from Bobby Thomas and Haji Wright at Pride Park.

However, Derby twice pegged City back and took the lead early in the second half.

Frank Lampard’s side equalised on 72 minutes through Brandon Thomas-Asante.

And quickfire goals from Ephron Mason-Clark and Victor Torp completed a stunning turnaround as Coventry secured their first league win of the season.

The Sky Blues broke the deadlock in bizarre fashion on seven minutes as Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom punched Torp’s dangerous free-kick against the head of Thomas and the ball rebounded into the net.

However, Derby drew level five minutes later when Callum Elder’s free-kick from the right edge of the penalty area flew into the top left corner.

Coventry reclaimed the lead on 25 minutes as Wright blasted home from the penalty spot after Mason-Clark drew a foul in the box.

Derby won a penalty of their own in first-half injury time after Thomas handled the ball in the box and Carlton Morris slid the resulting spot kick down the middle of the goal.

And the Rams completed the turnaround five minutes after the break as Ebou Adams found the bottom right corner from 12-yards out.

The Sky Blues equalised on 72 minutes when Thomas-Asante finished from virtually on the goalline after Zetterstrom could only tip Thomas’s initial header from a long throw against the post.

And Ciy reclaimed the lead three minutes later as Milan van Ewijk crossed for Mason-Clark to head home at the back post.

The visitors sealed the points on 79 minutes when Torp controlled van Ewijk’s pass and drilled a low effort into the net from just inside the penalty area via the aid of the left-hand post.
