VICTOR Torp always believed Coventry City would come out on top against Derby County despite the Sky Blues falling behind early in the second period.
Torp scored the game’s final goal as Coventry staged a late comeback to claim a thrilling 5-3 victory at Pride Park.
And the Danish midfielder admits Frank Lampard’s side played with a winning feeling throughout the game.
Torp said: “We put in a good performance. We knew it was going to be a tough match away, but I think we did what we had to do to get the away win.
“I think we were really good with the second balls and put in a really good performance in that aspect and then we scored five goals and that was enough to win the game.
“I think the whole game we had a feeling that it was a game that we were capable of winning and I think we could feel it all the way through the match.
“Even in the dressing room at half time, when it was two-two, this was a game we could win if we did well and we did just that.”
The victory saw Coventry claim their first league win of the season as the Sky Blues triumphed at Derby for the first time since October 2003.
And Torp praised City’s mindset after five different players found the net following the club’s opening day stalemate against Hull City.
Torp added: “I just think the goals shows the quality of the players that we have in the team.
“I think it’s a great sign that we have goals that can come from different players and I’m just happy for all the boys who scored.
“It’s a good start. We go into every game with the mindset to win and in the first match if you can’t win then at least don’t lose the game.
“We did that and got a clean sheet and then I think we put in a really good performance. So, four points is an okay start, and we go again next week.”
Coventry are next in action against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, August 23 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
