THE LEGACY of a ‘much-loved and generous’ Coventry wheelchair basketball legend will be honoured by his club this weekend.
Keith Batty, a stalwart of the Coventry Comets Wheelchair Basketball club (formerly CWBA), passed away suddenly at the age of 61 back in March.
Keith developed several Coventry youngsters into future Paralympians, and reached the pinnacle of the sport as a statistician at the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics.
His former teammates have now arranged the Keith Batty Memorial Day in his honour – with funds raised going towards the club and the Whizz Kidz charity for wheelchair users.
The event takes place from midday on Sunday (August 31) at the Woodlands Sports Complex in Broad Lane, featuring two exhibition games featuring the Coventry Comets’ first and second teams, refreshments, hot food, and a tombola.
