AN INSPIRATIONAL exhibition is being held by a Coventry school to celebrate 50 years since it became co-educational.

King Henry VIII School is marking the milestone with an exhibition entitled 50 for 50, in partnership with the Old Coventrians’ Association.

The exhibition showcases the journeys of women who have been educated at the school over the past five decades, showcasing their personal stories of achievement and resilience across careers, families, communities, sport, education and beyond, and highlighting successes and challenges overcome.

At the heart of the exhibition is a series of portraits representing each decade since co-education was introduced, alongside a digital ‘scrapbook’ of memories, photographs and reflections contributed by former students and staff.

The archive will grow throughout the anniversary year, allowing new voices and experiences to be added as the exhibition evolves.

Headmaster Mr Sewell said: “This exhibition is as much about giving everyone a voice as it is about celebrating achievements.

“We hope current pupils, alumni and the wider school community will see themselves reflected in these stories and feel inspired by the remarkable journeys of those who came before and after them.”

The exhibition launches today (Friday September 12) and will remain on display around the school throughout the anniversary year.
