KEVIN Moore praised his side’s mentality after Coventry Blaze produced a third period comeback to beat Manchester Storm in the Challenge Cup.
Blaze eventually triumphed in overtime to avenge their season-opening defeat against the Storm in a Challenge Cup double header.
Victory at the Skydome earned Coventry their first win of the new season.
And Moore insists his side are still searching for consistency in their performance with the season only two games old.
Moore said: “It was an entertaining one for sure, back-and-forth, a lot of excitement.
“The guys really connected going into the third period and made mature choices and did a good job battling through some momentum swings.
“It was really nice to have the Skydome that loud this early in the season on the overtime winner.
“As a group they were really solid. We knew we were short but we’re a team.
“I love the mentality side of it in terms of we clawed back a deficit.
“I’d love for us to be a little bit quicker with our decision making and I’d love for us to move our feet a little bit more.
“It’s early, we’re trying to correct and move forward. You’re failing forward but you’re also creating performance consistency.”
Blaze won 5-4 at the Skydome after losing 6-4 in the reverse fixture at Planet Ice Altrincham in their first game of the new campaign.
Coventry continue their Challenge Cup campaign against Guildford Flames on Saturday, September 20 with the face-off at 6pm at the Guildford Spectrum.
Blaze then host Cardiff Devils at the Skydome on Sunday, September 21 with the face-off at 5.30pm.
