FREE Opera performances are popping up around Coventry this autumn.
Professional singers and musicians from the Songs for Survivors of the 21st Century group – a new opera theatre project – will be bringing opera to new spaces and new people in the city.
On Wednesday October 8, they will perform with soprano Grace Nyandoro and Musical Director Barrack Dyer at the Wellness Junction in Broad Street Hall from 11am, Coventry Cathedral at 1.30pm and Central Library at 3.30pm.
On Friday October 24, soprano Chiara Vinci and pianist Jim Bate will perform at the Mind allotments in Spon End at 11.30am, the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre at 2pm and the Betty Ennis Hub in Willenhall at 3.30pm.
The public performances have been curated by the Opera Buddies group, who came up with a shortlist of spaces in Coventry where they would like to hear opera.
Producer Vanessa Oakes said: “Please drop in to one of the pop-up venues to hear a sample from Songs for Survivors of the 21st Century and brighten up your day with some opera.”
