FOOTBALL - Coventry City under-21s ship nine goals in heavy home defeat against Wigan Athletic

COVENTRY City under-21s shipped nine goals in a heavy 9-0 home defeat against Wigan Athletic.

A trialist scored four goals for the Latics while Cole Simms also netted a hat-trick at the Alan Higgs Centre.

And further goals from Leo Graham and Harrison Bettoni inflicted a heavy defeat on Mark Delaney’s side.

Wigan struck four times before the break and added a further five goals in the second period.

The result leaves the young Sky Blues fourth in the Professional Development League North table.

Coventry under-21s are next in action against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday, October 24 with kick-off at 2pm at Middlewood Training Ground.
