A MAN has been charged in connection with an assault outside a nightclub in Coventry.

Nigel Raynor, 53, was arrested on Sunday (November 2) on suspicion of wounding after a 29-year-old was assaulted outside a nightclub in Short Street, Coventry, in the early hours of Saturday morning (November 1).

The 53-year-old was remanded in custody and appeared before city magistrates on Monday (November 3). He will next appear at Warwick Crown Court on December 1.

A second man from Coventry has been charged with a number of offences following a burglary in the city.

Ian Giles, 50, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and blackmail and was due in court today (Tuesday November 4).

The 50-year-old was arrested yesterday (Monday November 3) by officers investigating the burglary, which happened in Canley in October.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “As the nights get darker, we are reminding everyone to be aware of ways you can make your property more secure.”
